Sacramento, CA – The California District Attorneys Association (CDAA) today announced their opposition to the November ballot initiative legalizing marijuana. CDAA was incorporated in 1974 with the mission to serve the needs and promote the interests of California’s prosecutors. CDAA serves as a source of continuing legal education and legislative advocacy for its membership and provides a forum for the exchange of information and innovation in the criminal justice field.
The California District Attorneys Association joins organizations such as Mothers Against Drunk Driving, California Police Chiefs Association, California Bus Association, CoachAmerica and dozens of other leaders representing business, law enforcement and community organizations.
This marijuana legalization initiative is set for the November 2010 ballot. It has been referred to by many as misleading and a threat to public safety. Public Safety First is a coalition and campaign aimed at defeating this initiative.
