The San Diego County Board of Supervisors unanimously voted last month to implement the placement of receptacles for safe disposal of prescription drugs. The drug-disposal boxes resemble post-office mailboxes, except they’re not blue and are expected to be located at 22 sheriff’s offices, stations, and substations in the county by fall.

I’ve been called a prohibitionist a lot lately.

It’s a phrase that marijuana users hurl like a rock at opponents of Proposition 19.

Sorry, but the more I learn about the November initiative to legalize marijuana for recreational use in California, the more I believe statewide voters should reject it.

Now that California’s billion-dollar ” medical marijuana” industry and its affiliated “recommendationists” have made marijuana legally available to any Californian with $75 and the willingness to tell a doctor that he sometimes has trouble sleeping, why not go all the way and just legalize the stuff for recreational use as proposed in Proposition 19 on the November ballot? Then we could tax it and regulate it, eliminating the illicit market and the need for law enforcement against pot growers. California would make a ton of money to help dig out of its fiscal hole, right?
