Starting January, the Bi-national Exchange will start the application of surveys in a public state high school in México called CECyTE, this is a 22,000 student population high school that has 18 campuses throughout the state of Baja California. The application of these surveys will let us measure risk factors that students may have regarding substance abuse and later on this will help us compare the same information between US-MEX border regions so that we are able to evaluate or current prevention programs, modify or create new programs.

Centros de Integración Juvenil invited Executive Director of CADFY John Redman through the Bi-national Exchange, to attend the 53rd annual International Congress on addictions in which John Redman was a key speaker in the main event. The Congress took place early November 2010 in Cancun, Quintana Roo, México. John Redman was member of the main panel to speak on the Marijuana block of speech, his participation was vital due to the recent defeat on the ballot initiative Prop 19, for which John Redman explained thoroughly what Prop 19 was about and the results on the votes.

If you’re smoking “spice,” you should get nervous next time your number comes up for a drug test.
The Air Force is now screening urine tests for synthetic cannabinoids used in spice and other drugs that mimic the effect of marijuana. The testing, called “a new weapon in the fight against spice” by the service, began Feb. 22.

Experts Say Bath Salts, Methamphetamine Share Similar Effects

While it is often marketed as bath salts, there is nothing soothing about the latest synthetic drug that has proved to be dangerous and deadly.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – This spring, the Drug Enforcement Administration and its national and community partners will give the public another opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs. O n Saturday, April 30 th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. local time, DEA and its partners will hold their second National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day at sites nationwide. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.

Missouri is not leading the nation in methamphetamine lab busts and seizures for the first time since 2003, according to figures released Tuesday.
Tennessee had 2,082 meth lab incidents in 2010, said Tom Farmer, the state’s meth task force director. That tops Missouri’s total of 1,960. Most other states have not yet released 2010 figures, which could further shake up the rankings.
