CHICO, Calif. -- Chico City Council has repealed a controversial medical marijuana dispensary ordinance with a 4-3 vote tonight.
The ordinance was set to go into effect this Thursday, but went back to the council for further review.
The council decided to reconsider the ordinance after receiving a letter from the Federal Prosecutors saying that despite state laws, city council members could face criminal charges if the ordinance went into effect.
Supporters wanted the council to move forward with it anyway, but the Police Officers Association refused to back an ordinance that broke Federal laws.
