Feds Announce Their Plan to Close California Pot Shops

No Idle Threat

(St. Petersburg, FL) At a news conference in Sacramento today, four U.S. Attorneys gathered to announce their plan of action to prosecute those engaging in the sale, distribution and cultivation of marijuana. They will target significant commercial operations and those operating near schools, parks and playgrounds.  Letters have been, and others will continue to be, sent to these operations advising owners of the federal pursuit of asset forfeiture if the operators do not cease and desist business. Also, they will be potentially facing federal prosecution if they do not comply.

“I knew the day would come when there would be a complete reversal of fortune,” said Calvina Fay, Executive Director of Drug Free America Foundation and Save Our Society From Drugs. “Today is that day folks. These criminal enterprises, making millions and operating under the guise of non-profit businesses, are a severe threat to communities throughout California and they will be closed down. Increased crime, the level of accessibility of marijuana to children, and directly targeting children with their juvenile marketing only scratches the surface of problems when discussing the need to rid California of these menacing albatrosses.”

“It is high time the federal government take action. I have been fighting these criminal enterprises for sometime here at ground zero. Watching these shops pop up day by day and our youth being negatively impacted by the rapid runaway proliferation of these marijuana stores has been extremely alarming. I can’t say enough about how excited I am with this new development. All of us who are combating this issue are feeling the gratification right now – and it feels good,” said Paul Chabot, Founder of the Coalition for a Drug Free California.
